Ridgeland, Mississippi - November 29, 2007
Today, Venture Technologies announces availability of its NetAssure – Data Protection Services. The solution is targeted at any organization that values its most precious asset – data.
The solution provides local and remote disk-based backup of customer data. A local disk backup appliance, referred to as a Data Protection Unit, or DPU is installed in a customer’s network. The DPU provides high-speed disk-based backup of all selected servers, storage devices and PC’s connected to the customer LAN.. The disk drives in this appliance are removable, for off-site storage, just as with tape. The backup utility backs up data, programs, operating system and passwords – essentially everything necessary to perform a “bare metal” restore.
The solution offers full integration with Microsoft Exchange for ‘brick level’ backups for individual message backup and restore and Microsoft SQL for online database backups. Venture’s service provides backup for an unlimited number of customer servers and desktops. Individual server or agent licenses are not required!
A very high capacity storage device, known as a Data Protection Vault (DPV), is installed at Venture’s Data Center. Customer’s Data Protection Units replicate or “sync” their data to Venture’s remote DPV on a defined interval. Venture’s DPV is backed up to tape, for additional protection.
In the event a restore is required, customers do so from their local DPU, just like tape, only it’s disk-based and much faster and more reliable. If for some reason the DPU is unavailable (catastrophic loss), customer data can be recovered by restoring from Venture’s DPV. DPV’s replicate to DPU’s which restore directly to servers.
Benefits of the Service are as follows:
- High speed local disk-based backup
- Electronic off-site storage provides maximum data protection
- “Bare Metal” restores ensure extremely rapid recovery
- Removable drives permit unlimited backup data generations
- Maximum off-site protection in Venture’s SAS 70 –certified Data Center
“We have become so reliant on our networks and the data stored on them”, said Gerard Gibert, Venture’s CEO. “Loss of data is a costly event that can often result in total organizational failure. Finally, we have an elegant, secure and affordable solution to give our customers peace of mind.”
