Jackson, Mississippi - September 24, 2007
Echostar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) and its DISH Network® satellite TV service has selected Venture Technologies to provide hosting and support services for a regional uplink facility. The facility will communicate High Definition programming to an Echostar satellite that will service DISH subscribers in selected cities in the southern United States.
Under the 10-year contract, Echostar will co-locate over 2,000 square feet of networking, server, storage and other electronic equipment in Venture’s world-class Data Center located in the Jackson State University (JSU) e-Center in Jackson, Mississippi. In addition, Venture will serve as a remote service provider for Echostar by providing maintenance and support of the co-located equipment and infrastructure.
Venture has assigned full-time project managers that will oversee the construction and provisioning of the service to Echostar’s requirements. Echostar will install two 13 meter dishes on the JSU e-center grounds. Multiple fiber and power links will connect the dishes to the equipment hosted in Venture’s facilities. Venture will provision power, environmental and data services to Echostar’s exact specifications. Consistent with the two companies’ commitment to reliable, continuous service, every aspect of the facility and network will be engineered with end-to-end redundancy.
“We are excited to launch our partnership with Echostar and Dish Network®, said Gerard Gibert, Venture’s CEO. Echostar’s selection of Venture demonstrates their confidence in our Data Center facility and our overall organization. Echostar is a global leader in satellite TV services and like Venture is known for delivering unsurpassed customer service. It’s an honor for Venture, to be selected by Echostar and we are thankful and proud of our outstanding staff, our relationship with JSU and our Jackson, Mississippi-area roots”.
Construction and provisioning is expected to be completed by late 2007 and the facility is scheduled to go-live in January, 2008.
