Ridgeland, Mississippi March 1, 2007
When world-renowned interventional oncologist, Dr. Patrick Sewell, established Sapheneia, he knew that renovating the 15,000-square-foot facility located at 932 North State Street in Jackson, Miss., to serve as headquarters for the multinational healthcare company represented a major high-tech undertaking.
After all, the Sapheneia Medical Minimally Invasive Therapy Institute would provide oncology patients with the most advanced image-guided surgical procedures for tumor ablation. Interventional radiologists at the state-of-the-art clinical and diagnostic facility, pioneers in the field of radiofrequency ablation, would need a proper place to continue developing techniques and technologies used by their colleagues worldwide.
“We did a lot of research to find the company we thought could best meet our needs,” explained Greg Mason, president of Sapheneia Properties. “Venture Technologies came highly recommended and had great references. After meeting with them, we felt we could work well together and that they could provide everything we needed. They listened to our requirements and made suggestions of their own. Together, we created one of the most technologically advanced healthcare facilities in the nation.”
For Sapheneia’s newly renovated $5.8 million, 4-story, 15,000 square-foot facility, Venture Technologies created a secure wireless infrastructure using all Cisco core networking technology and provided state-of-the-art voice over IP technology (also Cisco) to form an incredibly fast network that transmits, voice video and data traffic. Venture also served as the Project Manager for the deployment of most of the systems that connect to the network, including those sold by other vendors.
“Our campus has the most advanced networking technologies available, which gives us fast Internet connections and allows us to monitor all systems—from medical equipment to security cameras—in real time,” said Mason. “The network also makes it possible for us to use wireless devices that provide provide hands-free, voice communication throughout the facility. These lightweight, wearable, wireless badges allow instant conversations between staff throughout the Sapheneia campus. Our clinical staff also uses handheld, wireless PCs to monitor patients and chart their progress.”
Sapheneia also selected Venture Technologies to support its network and to host email, delivering Exchange email hosting, anti-virus, and anti-spam solutions.
“Our technology was the star,” Mason pointed out, at the 2006 grand opening of Sapheneia’s world-class facility. “It showcased our commitment to providing the most advanced cancer treatment available.”
